In a tweet posted earlier this week, Pink expressed her concerns over online star Piper Rockelle’s recent bikini photo, which was apparently taken by the 14-year-old’s mother.
“How many kids like Piper Rockelle are being exploited by their parents?” Pink wrote on Twitter on August 30. “And at what point do the rest of us say … ‘this isn’t okay for a 13 yr old to be posing in a bikini whilst her MOTHER takes the photo?!?!”
Rockelle is a singer and dancer who boasts eight million subscribers on YouTube as well as five million followers on Instagram.
On her popular social media accounts — which are reportedly managed by her family — the teenager shares videos of her popular “crazy challenges” including boyfriend challenges, crush challenges and 24-hour challenges.
“The first thing I want everyone to know is that my mum doesn’t make me do anything. Quite the opposite, I’m a kid who had a dream and my mom is amazing enough to help me live it out,” Rockelle told TMZ.
The teenager also told the outlet she doesn’t think Pink, 41, has “ever seen one of [her] YouTube videos” because if she had, she’d find playful clips of Rockelle and her friends “having fun and acting like ourselves”.
In another interview with US program Today Parents, she addressed the comments Pink — a mother of two — made about her bikini photo
“There’s nothing wrong with being in a bikini,” Rockelle said. “Why do we shame people for that? Pictures of teenagers in bikinis having fun are not sexual. They’re only sexual if you view us that way.”
