“We want to share some good news! Baby #2 coming November 2020. Adam, Albee, and I are so excited,” gushed the 37-year-old on Instagram alongside several photos of herself wearing masks while video calling with Shapiro from various doctor’s appointments.
In the comments, actor Josh Gad chimed in to share his well wishes as did comedian Chelsea Handler who teased, “Somebody was getting busy during covid!!!! Yahoo!”
The couple’s happy news comes several years after Lowes suffered a miscarriage prior to giving birth to Albee in October 2017.
“The initial feeling, when I found out there was no heartbeat from the doctor in a routine checkup, was like, ‘Okay, let’s Olivia Pope the situation, let’s fix it,'” said the actress on the podcast Katie’s Crib.
“‘Let’s make the schedule, let’s get to the hospital, let’s get the [dilation & curettage],'” she recalled of her reaction at the time. “‘When can I start trying again?'”
The TV star revealed that following her miscarriage, reality soon set in and the loss hit her hard.
“As soon as it set in that I’d had a miscarriage, what happens is you have a major hormonal drop-off,” Lowes explained on the podcast. “And I think I was massively sad for about three months, and I was only pregnant for three months.”
Both Lowes and Shapiro are devout theatre enthusiasts. As co-founders of the IAMA Theatre Company in Los Angeles, the pair more recently joined the cast of the Broadway musical Waitress in July 2018. In it, they play each other’s love interests Dawn and Ogie.
Lowe and Shapiro wed in 2012 and share a two-year-old son, Albee.
