Salma Hayek recreated a swimsuit shoot she did two decades ago and, honestly, did she even age?
The 54-year-old shared a throwback photo on Instagram taken from a swimsuit campaign she modelled for back in 1999, which featured Hayek lying on her side in a brown bikini.
“This photo is from a European bathing suit campaign I did for H&M in 1999,” she explained of the pic she shared ahead of the weekend.
In a follow-up photo posted, Hayek shared an image of herself in the present day, wearing a similar brown swimsuit.
“2020: More than 20 years after my last post,” she wrote. “Ready for the weekend!”
At the time, Hayek’s star was on the rise, having just starred in hits such as From Dusk Till Dawn with George Clooney, Fools Rush In with Matthew Perry and Wild Wild West with Will Smith. The movies put her on the map and on the cover of InStyle in 1998.
“I shot my first InStyle cover when I was 29, in 1998. It’s very dear to me because I was the first Latina on a ‘What’s Hot Now’ issue. What I remember most about my 20s is that I didn’t want to be 30,” Hayek recalled last year during InStyle’s 25th anniversary issue.
“In America they used to tell actresses they expired at 30. That’s why I was scared. Now I don’t care about getting older. When I turned 40 and then 50, I didn’t mind at all. I am just so happy that this cover exists as evidence that there was once a time when I could go braless. That doesn’t happen anymore.”
