Lisa Curry finds touching way to repurpose flowers from daughter’s funeral

Lisa Curry has received an overwhelming amount of support and love after her daughter’s death.

The former Olympic swimmer has shared an Instagram post of all the flowers she’s been sent, along with a beautiful photo of her daughter Jaimi Kenny, who died earlier this month.

She’s not letting the flowers going to waste, however. “So many flowers,” she captioned her photo. “We have started hanging them to dry and also learning how to make pot pourri…”

Curry used the opportunity to thank all the people who have sent their well wishes. “There are thousands of messages and I have randomly read them … I want you to know that your love, strength, comments and suggestions have been wonderful and really really helpful… thank you.”

Jaimi died two weeks ago, aged 33, after battling a long-term illness. Her funeral was held last weekend.

“You have shared with me your own personal stories of loss and grief and how you have slowly returned to a different normal…. thank you,” Curry’s caption continued. “To the people in the street who come and just hug me… thank you.”

“I seem to be going through waves of different emotions, unbearable sadness to anger…. I’m usually the one strong one but now I’m leaning on others for strength … so thank you.”

“Jaimi will forever be remembered as a caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself,” her father, Grant Kenny, wrote in a statement announcing her death.

In a previous Instagram comment, Curry said that her “grief is immense”, and pleaded with parents to appreciate every moment they have with their children. “Right now, go and give your children the biggest hug and tell them how much you love them, and do that everyday because you’ll never know if it’s the last day,” she wrote.
