US tabloid magazine In Touch has claimed the couple quietly called it quits “a couple of months ago” because the Byron Bay-based star wanted to return to work on projects that require him to travel to Hollywood and beyond.
“He didn’t want to be tied down and work has picked up since the pandemic ended,” a source claimed to the outlet of the 32-year-old Hunger Games alum.
The source also said that Brooks, 26, is “heartbroken” over the split.
9Honey Celebrity has reached out to Hemsworth’s manager for comment.
The couple were first linked in December 2019, four months after Hemsworth split from then-wife Miley Cyrus. The actor was with the singer for a decade and were only married for eight months before announcing their breakup.
He was soon seen spending time together with Brooks in Byron Bay and shortly after the new couple were spotted having lunch with his parents, Craig and Leonie.
According to another report from In Touch, Hemsworth’s parents preferred Brooks to Cyrus and had given the new couple their blessing early on in the relationship.
“Craig and Leonie adore Gabriella,” a source told the outlet at the time. “[They] think she’s a much better fit for their son than Miley.”
Ever since, Brooks has accompanied the Hemsworths on family vacations and she was also in attendance at numerous parties in Byron Bay hosted by Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky.
“The family very much approves and likes having her around,” a source told E! News. “They are happy for Liam that he has found someone that brings out the best in him.”
