Hugh Hefner’s ex Holly Madison claims Playboy mogul once screamed at her for getting haircut: ‘He said it made me look cheap’

Holly Madison is set to shed more details about her time in the Playboy Mansion in the upcoming documentary series Secrets of Playboy

In a teaser clip recently released for the 10-part docu-series, Madison recalls her experience living at the famous Holmby Hills address in California between 2001 and 2008 as the number-one girlfriend of Hugh Hefner — and she says it wasn’t all fun and games.

The 41-year-old said the rules implemented in the house were hard to live by and she specifically recalled a time when even haircuts were seen as a no-no.

“I felt like I was in the cycle of gross things and I didn’t know what to do,” Madison said in the clip. “I got to a point, not too far into my time there — I think it was, like, six months in — where I kind of broke under that pressure being made to feel I had to look like everyone else. My hair was really long naturally, and I was just like, ‘I’m gonna go chop my hair off so I can, at least, look a little different.'”

But the makeover did not sit well with Hefner, whose alleged reaction shocked Madison.

“I came back with short hair, and he flipped out on me,” she claimed. “He was screaming at me and said it made me look old, hard and cheap.”

Also appearing on the teaser clip was Bridget Marquardt. She too lived in the mansion as another of Hefner’s girlfriends and claimed to have witnessed how the Playboy mogul treated Madison.

“Hef would be pretty abrasive in the way he said things to Holly,” 48-year-old Marquardt said. “She came down with red lipstick one time and he flipped out, said he hated red lipstick on girls and [told her] that she needed to take it off right away.

“It was very frustrating to live with every day. All of the drama that was going on and the tension. I could definitely see that [Madison] was getting depressed and sad and her demeanour was starting to change.”

Madison eventually left the mansion in 2008 after she and Hefner broke up. She went on to marry businessman Pasquale Rotella in 2013. They welcomed two children — daughter Rainbow, eight, and son Forest, four — before splitting in 2019.

Herner passed away inside the Playboy Mansion in 2017, aged 91. It was later determined he died of sepsis.
