The Red Notice star was alerted to the good deeds US Navy veteran Oscar Rodriguez was doing for the community, and after hearing of the man’s incredible story, the former wrestler gifted Rodriguez his own personal truck as a thank you.
“I invited fans to a special theater screening of ‘RED NOTICE’ and I wanted to do something cool for all of them,” Johnson, 49, explained on Instagram. “I also wanted to do something BIG … something MASSIVE… something unforgettable for one fan.”
The wrestle-turned-actor said his original plan was to give away a Porsche, but the luxury automobile manufacturer wasn’t keen to be part of the surprise.
“My original idea was to give away the Porsche Taycan, that I drive in the movie, Red Notice. So we reached out to Porsche, but they said no,” Johnson continued.
“But I still said, yes 😉 I’ll do one better. I’ll give away my personal custom truck as the gift. My baby 😊.”
After guiding Rodriguez out of the cinema and into the parking lot, Johnson presented him with a card explaining the situation, which then caused the man to drop to his knees.
“Ultimately, Oscar’s story moved me,” Johnson explained on Instagram as he shared a video taken from the parking lot. “Takes care of his 75 year old mom. Personal trainer. Leader at his church. Provides support and meals for women victimized by domestic violence.
“Proud & humble Navy veteran. Kind human being. Oscar said it right, just before he drove away ~ it’s just love. That’s all it is, brother. Just love.”
