In the weeks before her sudden death hours before her wedding, Danielle Hampson shared a string of touching family tributes – including a declaration she couldn’t wait to marry her fiancé.
Hampson and X Factor UK star Tom Mann were together for four years, and shared an eight-month-old son, Bowie.
They were set to finally tie the knot on Saturday after having to postpone their original dates twice due to COVID-19, but on the morning of their ceremony, Hampson was found dead. Her cause of death is currently unknown.
In her final months, Hampson shared a series of posts showing her love for her young family of three – in May, the couple and their young son travelled to Sardinia in Italy, and Hampson shared photos of herself cradling Bowie with Mann.
One month earlier, she shared a video of Mann – who competed on the X Factor UK in 2014 as part of the band Stereo Kicks – playing the acoustic guitar and singing Dua Lipa and Elton John‘s ‘Cold Heart’ to his son in honour of Bowie turning six months old. Watch above.
“Happy 6 months my darling boy ⚡️” Hampson wrote alongside the sweet video, where Bowie can be seen sitting next to his father, held by his mother, and reaching towards him.
“I played this song almost every day of my 3rd trimester, it was in my labour playlist & it was number 1 the day Bowie was born… determined for it to be ‘our song’ & for it always remind us of life’s good bits 🤍”
On one of their original wedding days – September 25, 2020 – Hampson wrote a gushing tribute to Mann where she said she couldn’t wait to marry him.
“To think of what today should have been is strange, but we count ourselves incredibly fortunate that a wedding date is all we’ve lost,” Hampson wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the pair embracing and wearing face masks.
“Everyone has a story from 2020 – I’m just grateful you’re so heavily featured in mine….. I can’t wait to marry you, but the world has other plans. So for now lets celebrate our special little date ❤️”
In the early hours of yesterday morning, Mann broke the devastating news his fiancée and the mother of his child had died suddenly on the morning of their wedding – and vowed to raise their son as a single dad in a way that would make her proud.
“I can’t believe I am writing these words,” Mann’s post, where he also said he would continue to wear his engagement ring as a symbol of his “unconditional love” for Hampson, began.
“On what was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives ended in irreversible heartbreak,” he wrote.
“I feel like I have cried an ocean. We never made it to the altar; or got to say our vows, or dance our first dance, but I know you know that you were my entire world and the best thing that has ever happened to me, Danielle.”
Tributes to Hampson and messages of support for Mann and the family quickly flooded in from fans, friends and loved ones.
Nadine Coyle, Girls Aloud vocalist, wrote, “Sending so much love, light & healing to you, Bowie & everyone who loved Dani!!”
Singer Mimi Webb also wrote, “Tom I’m so so sorry. Sending all my love to you & thinking of you. Love you brother x we are with you.”
Meanwhile singer Lewis Capaldi commented, “Love you brother.”
Simon Cowell also shared a statement paying tribute to Hampson, Mann and the family, writing, “As a father myself, I simply cannot imagine the heartbreak Tom and his family are going through and will be personally reaching out to him.”
He added, per TMZ: “From my family to his, we extend our deepest condolences and all of our love during this tragic time.”
