The original Wiggles band members have made their first red carpet appearance together in years with their new bandmate, Tsehay Hawkins aka the Yellow Wiggle.
The 16-year-old joined original members Anthony Field, Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt at the ARIA Awards during a glitzy event held at Sydney’s Taronga Zoo this evening.
While Field remains a member of the current line-up with Simon Pryce and Lachlan Gillespie, Cook and Fatt departed the band in 2012. Tsehay, meanwhile, joined the children’s group last month after Emma Watkins announced she was leaving the group.
Joining the group was a dream come true for Hawkins, who loves both the old and new band members.
“I am honoured to be joining The Wiggles at such an exciting time for the group,” Hawkins said in a statement at the time.
“I grew up watching The Wiggles and I’ve already loved working with Anthony, Emma, Simon, Lachy, Evie, Kelly, John and all the Wiggly characters filming their latest TV series Fruit Salad TV.
“Dancing has always been my passion, and I look forward to being able to share the joy of song and dance with children all over the world!”
The red carpet moment came after Watkins reminisced about her time at the ARIAs last year when she and fellow female artists Kate Ceberano, Jessica Mauboy, Delta Goodrem, Marcia Hines, Amy Shark and Tones and I paid tribute to ‘I Am Woman’ singer Helen Reddy.
“ARIA #moments,” Watkins captioned the photo.
