Angelina Jolie has given a rare glimpse of children Zahara and Shiloh preparing for the school year ahead.
The mother of six, 46, shared a pair of photos on Instagram, showing her teenagers doing their summer reading.
Zahara, 16, can be seen holding Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye, while Shiloh, 15, reads a copy of The Dark Lady by Akala.
“End of #summerreading. These are some of the favorites in our house. Would love to know yours,” Jolie wrote in the caption.
The Maleficent actress joined Instagram late last month to shed light on the events in Afghanistan after the Taliban reclaimed power over the country for the first time in 20 years.
Her recent post marks the first time she’s shared photos of her children on social media.
Jolie, who split from husband Brad Pitt in 2016 after two years of marriage, previously opened up about life as a single mother to British Vogue.
“I’ve been focusing on healing our family. It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body,” she said.
The Tomb Raider star reflected on entering her 50s, saying her children have shared their concerns about her ageing.
“We were on the trampoline the other day, and the children said, ‘No, Mum, don’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself.’ And I thought, ‘God, isn’t that funny?’ There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself,” she said.
The actress also discussed her aims to raise socially conscious children, saying, “I know this may sound strange, but don’t make it a duty for them to do good or have to give back.”
“If we can help children feel that it’s not about duty or service or charity, but the joy of an interconnected life with people you respect, then it feels very different.”
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 after nearly 14 years together.
The mother of six praised her children’s independence in an interview with the New York Times in 2017.
“They really help me so much,” she said. “We really are such a unit. They are the best friends I have ever had. No one in my life has ever assisted me.”
